This replaced my Pioneer D509S. My D509 was old and tested, but had little audio or compressed audio video capabilities. Otherwise, it was a great quality product. I was looking for a replacement for Pioneer for several years (older 101X models). I looked at other brands, but was so impressed with my Pioneer, I wanted to stay with the brand and wait for the right product. Although this model has many of the features I was looking for, but not live-up to the quality and content expected.

Got this to replace my 14 years Sony 5.1 receiver that finally died. This receiver is perfect for a basic 5.1 home theater install. A lot of input, which is what I really need, like my old Sony had only two video inputs. This has four, which is what I needed. One of my biggest cable box, one for my HTPC and one for my game consoles. I still have one more time, after a DVD is still open when I use my HTPC as my DVD player. I also liked that I was able to "fly" around the back since I only use two fronts, a center speaker and a (sub 3.1).

I had given up on the receiver is able to do before I got after doing some research, but when the package arrived, the window had a "Bravia Sync" logo printed on the best. This sent me into a frenzy, trying to understand how to use this feature. Until now, are still not 100% sure that this receiver is capable of … even after talking with a customer service representative for Sony. Now find out!
